You can get a taxi to your accommodations from Tahiti-Faa’a International Airport, or you can arrange to be collected on arrival with your travel agent or accommodations. To get to the other islands, you can take a domestic flight with Air Tahiti or Air Moana from the same airport.
If you’re heading for Moorea, there are flights in a separate section of the airport, or you can head into Papeete and catch a ferry from the ferry terminal.
Getting to Tahiti
Tahiti is the main island of French Polynesia and home to its capital, Papeete. The arrival airport for international flights is Tahiti- Faa’a International Airport, which is the main port of entry into the island.
The airport has regular flights to and from Paris, Los Angeles, Seattle, San Francisco, Honolulu, Noumea, Tokyo, Auckland and Rarotonga (Cook Islands).
Domestic flights to the five archipelagos in French Polynesia also leave from the same airport.

Getting around in Tahiti
There is an efficient bus service which connects Papeete to all the other districts in Tahiti. If you’re unsure of which bus to catch, ask the driver and he’ll be pleased to help.
However, we advise you to book a taxi and or a car rental.
Papeete is small enough for you to visit by foot, including the sea front, the market and the various shopping avenues.
To explore round the island, you can either rent a car or go on a guided tour. If you’re adventurous enough, try using the bus service, which is an excellent way to meet the locals.
There are various guided tours and excursions, including 4×4 safaris, which will take you into the interior of the island.
You can also discover the island by renting a motor boat or a sailboat or taking a tour on an outrigger sailing canoe. And if money’s no object, then you can fly over the island in a helicopter.
Except for the bus, all of these options should be reserved in advance.

The sun shines all year round in The Islands of Tahiti. However, there are two distinct seasons: the dry season and the rainy season. The dry season is from March to November, when temperatures are a very agreeable 21 – 27°C. The rest of the year is much hotter, from 25 to 35°C and the air is humid.
