A souvenir that’s worth its weight in gold

During the periods of pearl grafting and harvesting you have the chance to win one of these magnificent jewels. Havaiki, the oldest pearl farm on the atoll, holds a lottery and the first prize is a superb, Tahitian black pearl.

The main tourist activity in Fakarava is scuba diving, with snorkeling coming a close second. Rent a scooter or bike to visit the atoll’s superb beaches, such as the magnificent Grand Bleu. Take a stroll round the village of Rotoava and explore the coconut plantations of the principal motu on a quad ATV excursion.

Fakarava is the second biggest atoll in French Polynesia.
